The BJP is expected to junk away the proposal to do away with all taxes, other than customs duty, and just impose a 2% levy on all bank deposits as top leaders are finding several gaps in the plan suggested by a Pune based outfit that has already come under criticism from economists and experts. While party leaders are unwilling to discuss the proposal on record, sources said Arun Jaitley has pointed out the proposed tax will end the exemption available to agricultural income as any money deposited in a bank account will face the 2% tax.
